Polo Ralph Lauren Norfolk-Style Jacket

Polo Ralph Lauren can certainly be hit-or-miss. Some of their shirts are "meh," and some of their jackets can stop you in your tracks! This piece falls into the latter category: it's a Norfolk/Hunting style cord jacket. The icing on the cake are the real suede shoulder pads, which I'm sure will be used for shooting ;). Vintage Florsheim Longwings!

Vintage Florsheim are just as good as internet fools say they are! Florsheim made shoes of top-quality leather and were one of the first American shoe manufacturers to receive whole hides and cut them at the factory. Florsheim even had a practice to discard lesser hides! They really did not cut corners, and they REALLY don't make them like they used to. The 360 storm welt and double leather soles are luxury features on today's footwear, but they were the norm for this former American powerhouse.

Today Florsheim joins Cole Haan, Johnston & Murphy, Footjoy, Nettleton, Bostonian, and even Allen Edmonds as purveyors of outsourced and corrected-grain junk.

This pair was for the Florsheim subsidiary "Worthmore." This line was aimed at getting younger men buying proper shoes, setting them up to be lifelong loyal customers.

Give Plaid (Pants) A Chance.

Plaid pants can be quite the polarizing concept. For some folks, images of the 70's and its infamous "fashion" are instantly conjured. For me, it's all about context and moderation. Sure, you'll look awful if you wear double knit flares and a big collared nylon shirt. You can balance out a boisterous plaid with your other clothes all being basic solid colors.

This pair of pants is from the golden era of LL Bean. The script logo and Talon hardware gives away the quality. The fabric is untagged but is certainly a wool with a smooth hand. The pants have a straight leg, say no to flares!

Hickey Freeman Does a Mind-Blowing Tweed SUIT!

Tweed sport coats are a dime-a-dozen, a full tweed suit is a real treat! Hickey Freeman will blow you away with this incredible suit. The pale brown background comes to life with a bold glen plaid, complete with a subtle red windowpane. The fabric is a 100% wool tweed with a fuzzy hand. The fabric may be the finest tweed that I've ever felt, sorry Harris!
