Ralph Lauren University Club was the predecessor to the now-defunct "Rugby" line. It was a transitional collection, for young men who wanted a sleek-cut version of the classics. The line was American-made with full canvassed construction. Some folks on the interwebs knock the line for being a "diffusion," but they obviously haven't come across some of the fine pieces that this line produced.
This sport coat is untagged but is certainly a wool/silk, as evidenced by the "nubiness" characteristic of silk. The fabric is tightly knit and has a lovely beige backdrop. The plaid is done in purple, blue, and red- a unique color combo. Natural shoulder and high armholes, what more could you want? Measures an unreal size 34 Short.
